The BFM Foundation story
Our story began after two men returned from a ministry trip to India in 1988. These men recognized the potential of God’s Word to impact the lives of people who would come into a relationship with Christ. Rather than making a single donation to Bible League Canada (BLC), they opened a volunteer-based Thrift Store in 1989 in Chilliwack, B.C. with thirty other founders.
Now, six days a week,“BFM Thrift Stores convert donated used goods into cash so that BFM Foundation (Canada) may, in joint ministry with Bible League Canada ), transform peoples’ lives through the Living Word of God.”
The net revenue from this spiritual enterprise is affecting millions of lives locally and globally.
In 2013, through the efforts of about 3,300 volunteers and about 65 paid staff in 42 BFM Thrift Stores, BFM was able to contribute $7,262,770 to the Joint Ministry with Bible League Canada (BLC).
In 2013 alone BFM placed 5,819,612 Bibles and Scriptures, enabled 65,341 people to be trained, enabled 4,359 churches to be planted and enabled 2,084,074 evangelistic contacts to be made. Families are given new hope as adults and children hear about the love of Christ. Proceeds from BFM accounted for 52.5% of the financial resources used by the Joint Ministry to accomplish these life-changing results.
